Oh modern art...

Today is day 6 of our travels out of Hannover. We slept in an extra hour today, because we checked out of our 1st hotel and moved to another one on the northern end of Paris. Let's just say we are regretting that move. This hotel is well...pretty shady and lacking A/C! But we will survive.

Day 6 Proof we still love each other

We hit the Centre Pompidou, the modern art museum, after we checked in. The exterior was definitely modern and it looked as if it was still under construction. The views from this place were amazing! The art was definitely modern. We saw some very interesting short films, photos, paintings, and sculptures. We are, let's just say, enlightened. It began to rain as we left! We then visit Les Halles, an underground shopping mall, and Jara had a lot better luck shopping than I did!

Then it was off to the Galleries at Lafayette, a more upscale shopping mall. But we went here for the food court. On the second floor, there was a HUGE food court as they call it. But in America, this would not be a food court, but a high end specialty food store (selling every kind of food possible) with about 15 different restaurant kiosks selling meals...everything from sushi to chocolate to bread.

Then we decided to visit the Paris Opera House since it was just right around the corner, and I am so glad we did because it was gorgeous!

Then we made our way down to the Concorde and the Louvre with all its gardens and splendor! We got the Louvre just to witness it (we will view it on Monday), and then we decided to stay till dark for the lighting of the pyramid.

Sorry so short! I've got to get some sleep as I am getting up early to tour Versailles tomorrow!

Three Things I Learned Today:

1. I don't have a love for modern art.

2. The Louvre is so much larger than I imagined!

3. GERMANY won 3rd place!

2 comments:

  1. Right next to the Centre Pompidou is the red light district - go have fun!
